Foie gras protest alert and Hawaii ban

We have just learned that Mille Fleurs is offering foie gras on their Valentine's Day menu despite having already agreed to remove this item of unspeakable cruelty. Therefore we will be protesting:

When: Sun., Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day), 6:00pm
Where: Mille Fleurs, 6009 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92091

Pamplemouse Grille also keeps serving foie gras as a special, even though chef and owner Jeff Strauss has condemned this cruelty in the media, and the city of Solana Beach where the restaurant is located has passed a resolution calling on restaurants to stop serving it.

Therefore, at about 7:00 we will leave Mille Fleurs and head over to Pamplemousse just 15 minutes away to protest there as well.

FOIE GRAS BAN PROPOSED IN HAWAII

As reported by the AP, a proposed ban on the sale of foie gras in the state of Hawaii has passed a senate committee, and support is needed to get it to the next committee. If you know anyone who lives and votes in Hawaii, ask them to email Senator Brian Taniguchi <sentaniguchi@capitol.hawaii.gov> and request that he docket SB2170 as soon as possible in his committee!

Sample text:

Dear Sen. Taniguchi:

Please docket SB2170 as soon as possible for a hearing in your committee. Hawaii's state biologist and bird expert Fern Duvall agrees with every animal protection organization that force feeding is inhumane. Livers that are several times their normal size as a result of force feeding should not be sold in Hawaii. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
[Your name and address]
