On April 9, join APRL at a benefit for PCRM featuring Elizabeth Kucinich

Spend an unforgettable afternoon with Elizabeth Kucinich, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s director of public and government affairs. Mrs. Kucinich will discuss how legislation can help end animal experiments, improve medical training, and stop the destructive agricultural subsidies that perpetuate chronic disease, notorious factory farms, and environmental destruction. March 2011 Successes

We have been stepping up our campaign against cruel foie gras nationally, with protests and victories in California, Oregon at Georgia! Over ten restaurants have removed this product of animal torture just in the past month after being contacted by APRL!
We also reached thousands of people in March with pro-veg leaflets at Indiefest, St. Patrick's Fest, Meatout at People's Co-op, Meatout at Jimbo's, as well as passing out leaflets in downtown San Diego and Hoover High School.
A San Diego woman sought out our booth at St. Patrick's Day to tell us that she went vegan after meeting our volunteers at last year's festival. New APRL intern Stephanie Vasquez also became a vegan animal advocate after APRL representatives spoke in her class at Crawford High School last year. Since then, she has convinced her family and one of her friends to go veg with her!
Legislation to ban sale and possession of shark fins in California has passed out of its first legislative committee. Congratulations to San Diego's Judy Ki for her tireless efforts on this!

How You Can Help In April

This month, we will have literature tables at the Encinitas Street Fair, Earth Day in Balboa Park, and we will be distrbuting pro-veg flyers at high schools in San Diego. To see details on all our upcoming events click here. We also need volunteers to help in the office on a regular basis with phone calls, data entry, research, button making, mailings, etc. Email us if you can volunteer in the office or help out at one of these events!
