APRL Seal Campaign

On January 8, 2008, the San Diego City Council voted unanimously to pass a resolution commending the Animal Protection and Rescue League for exposing the "foie gras" industry, commending restaurants that have stopped serving this cruel dish, and calling on San Diegans to avoid purchasing it.

In May 2007, APRL and In Defense of Animals sponsored an independent Zogby opinion poll to see where San Diegans stand on banning "foie gras" (liver from force fed ducks or geese). The results: 85% of San Diegans want their city to ban foie gras without waiting for California's statewide ban to go into effect in 2012.

This was a scientific poll with an error rate of +/- 4%. View the complete poll results here. The breakdown by council district and other demographics is here.

What you can do:

Contact all eight City Council members to thank them for voting for the ordinance regarding foie gras, and especially Councilmember Donna Frye for sponsoring it!

Christine Chavez, Gloria Steinem and Kathy Najimy have written letters in support of passing the ordinance.
