Just a quick note to let you know that all the community pressure worked--we achieved a unanimous vote today from the Natural Resources & Culture Committee to protect the seals! The proposal calls for closing Casa Beach during pupping season, keeping the guideline rope up year round, prohibiting dogs on the beach at all times, and looking into private funding for a ranger.
Please write to Councilmembers Donna Frye, Marti Emerald, Sherri Lightner and Carl DeMaio to thank them for their support! Please also write to Council President Ben Hueso to thank him for his past support and urge him to bring this item to the full City Council as quickly as possible now that there is committee support!
